About the location

In one of the most beautiful Art Nouveau theater buildings in Europe, an architectural sculpture on Schillerplatz built in 1908 in the late Secessionist style, the economic and political position of the Cottbus bourgeoisie, which had grown towards the end of the 19th century, was expressed. Connected with this was the desire to make Cottbus the focal point of the intellectual life of Lower Lusatia. It was thanks to the citizens of Cottbus that their theater, which had also served as an ammunition depot during the war, did not fall victim to demolition in 1945. This year it will host the keyboard art of Piotr Anderszweski.
