Barbara Hannigan in the World Premiere of John Zorn’s »Star Catcher«

Following the success in last year’s festival of four portrait concerts devoted to the music of John Zorn, the celebrated New York composer will return this year with a new work composed especially for the Lausitz Festival. “Star Catcher” – for soprano, piano, and improvising rhythm group – was inspired by Remedios Varo’s surrealistic painting of the same name. International star soprano Barbara Hannigan will be the soloist for the premiere. Also on the program will be Zorn’s song cycles “Jumalattaret” and “Split the Lark” – a breathtaking and riotous evening of song!
