About the production

Start

7:30 p.m.

End

9 p.m.

With her highly acclaimed solo albums and live programmes »Schumann Kaleidoskop« and »Resonanzen«, pianist Johanna Summer, who was born and raised in Plauen (Saxony) in 1995, has carved out her own musical cosmos: free improvisation based on classical piano works. This approach not only delights audiences, but also many of her fellow pianists. In the past two years, for example, Igor Levit invited her to the Lucerne Festival Piano Festival, which he curated, where Summer performed solo and as a duo with him on two pianos.

Her programme »Dialogues«, which will be released on record in autumn, continues the concept of exploring and retelling classical works together in exchange with non-improvising performers. At the Kulturweberei Finsterwalde, Johanna Summer meets one of her favourite partners, the US-American Kit Armstrong. He was one of the last master students of the legendary pianist Alfred Brendel and is now himself one of the big names among the concert pianists of the younger generation.
