The French-Moroccan diva Aïcha Redouane is renowned for her extraordinary voice and her understanding of the art of classical Arabic singing. Her mission is to revitalize the music of the Maqam and the poetry of Arabic Sufi singing in the service of intercultural understanding. Redouane and Lebanese composer Habib Yammine were the founders of Ensemble Al-Adwâr, whose members also include Sofiane Negra and – a magical oriental journey in sound!
Aïcha Redouane
Specialization in the art of Maqâm and Arabic Sufi song, based on the mastery of Amazigh (Berber) style, jazz-blues and classical Western and Arabic singing. The internationally recognized Franco-Moroccan diva, Aïcha Redouane, has founded the al-Adwar ensemble, with the Lebanese composer Habib Yammine, in 1991.
With an exceptional voice, Redouane, also qânûn player, commands an extensive, Arabic classical music repertoire and has recorded numerous albums on the label Harmonia Mundi, awarded Diapason d’Or, Choc de la Musique and Classica. Redouane and Yammine perform and record both traditional repertoire as well as compositions based on arabic Sufi poetry of the great Arab Sufi shaykh Ibn Arabi, Rabia al-Adawiyya, Ibn al Fârid, and so on. In 2016, she was awarded the Wissam Royal by His Majesty King Mohammed VI of the Kingdom of Morocco. Aïcha Redouane and Habib Yammine are invited to numerous concerts and festivals worldwide, like UNESCO, the British Museum-London, the Brussels Opera, andParis, Rabat, Fes, Roma, Berlin, Baku, Davos Forum, Sharm-el-Sheikh, Ottawa, New York, Bahrein, Abu Dhabi, United Nations-Geneva, ... Aïcha Redouane is spiritually engaged in the Sufi way as disciplewithShaykh Sidi Jamal Ibn Sidi Hamza al-Qadiri al-Boutchichi. Aïcha Redouane dedicates her art to a dialogue of spirituality for Peace.
