The Lausitz producer Reiner J. Nagel and filmmaker Bernhard Sallmann have created the film biography of a book. Marina Svetaeva’s »Über Deutschland« [Concerning Germany] from 1919 is a poetic diary of her affection for Germany. But this is neither a film about Svetaeva’s life nor about Germany. It is an unlikely but necessary declaration of love, allowing us to experience an indescribable sensation of »betweenfulness« that feels remarkably familiar in the Lausitz of our time.
