From Leonard Bernstein’s “Candide” to the EcoCity project in Weißwasser: can architecture offer a utopian hope for structural development? Can the best of all possible worlds be designed on a drawing board? And even if so: the best for whom? Ludger Schwarte will consider whether naiveté and optimism are required to develop an ecologically better world. The lecture will be followed by a discussion with socioecologist Maik Hosang, who is part of the EcoCity project.
