The sixth part of Krzysztof Kieślowski’s series of films inspired by the Ten Commandments deals with sexuality and love. 19-year-old Tomek uses a telescope to spy on Magda, a woman twice his age. His distanced observation of another person evolves into a passionate, almost intolerable intimacy that leads to the crossing of borders by all concerned. With subtle colour symbolism and brilliant camera work, the act of seeing becomes a principal theme of the film.
